Can you play it? StudioMDHR’s Cuphead was a long time in the making, but it delivered on its promise. Rendered like a 1930s cartoon, Cuphead is easily one of the most gorgeous games ever made. There’s nothing quite like it, as the painstaking hand-drawn animations are miraculously authentic. Couple Cuphead‘s staggeringly impressive look in motion with the jazzy soundtrack, fizzing pops, and crackling signal in the background mimicking a film reel, and it transports you into a cartoon (a Cuphead cartoon is actually in the works). Cuphead is essentially a sidescrolling boss rush that can be played solo or with a friend who controls Cuphead’s brother, Mugman. Throughout your journey across Inkwell Isle, you square off against clowns, angry vegetables, delirious bees, ship captains, mad scientists and more en route to a final showdown with the Devil himself. All of the bosses are memorable and unique. Cuphead is quite the challenge, relying on both fast fingers and memorization. A handful of run and gun levels are scattered throughout to break up the boss battles, all of which will test your fortitude. Cuphead is an astounding achievement, and the Delicious Last Course expansion will add more challenges to the adventure in 2020.
Monster video strain resource game pick of the day : To this day, no Assassin’s Creed game has come as close to photo-realism as Assassin’s Creed Unity, a game that, when it runs, looks jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Though the lack of proper optimization was, and to some extent still is, a cause of the hefty hardware this game requires, the majority of the title’s requirements stem from its sheer visual caliber. With the massive crowds, god-ray-lighted stained-glass windows of Notre Dame and concealing shadows of grimy Parisian back alleys, this game is a time machine that plops players into an almost lifelike re-creation of the French Revolution. Recommended specs: CPU: 3.4GHz Intel Core i7-3770, 4GHz AMD FX-8350 – RAM: 8GB – Storage: 50GB – GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 780, AMD Radeon R9 290X (3GB) – OS: 64-Bit Windows 7, 8. I like Star Wars games and usually this games are resource intensive. It may have launched itself into a scandal with an initial build that put way too much focus on microtransactions, but subsequent updates to Star Wars Battlefront II have transformed it into an easy game to love. It has the epic multiplayer battles, heaps of characters, loads of nerdy references, and an engaging story that centres on an attention-grabbing new character named Iden Versio (an Imperial-turned-Rebel played brilliantly by Janina Gavankar). The show-stealing moment in the campaign falls to Luke Skywalker, here voiced by Matthew Mercer, who takes part in an emotionally-satisfying scene that lasts long in the memory. The Phantom Menace was a pile of…bantha fodder. I’ll never forgive George Lucas for Jar Jar Binks, or for (spoiler alert!) killing off Darth Maul after having him on screen for about five minutes. But, it’s hard to argue against how exciting the Pod Racer scene was. Turns out, it didn’t make for a bad game, either. Originally for the Nintendo 64 (Dreamcast, PS2 and even a superior arcade machine version – complete with full-scale racer cockpit – were eventually produced too), Star Wars Episode I: Racer turned the scene quite effortlessly into a racing title. Somewhere between Wipeout and Mario Kart, it had a great campaign mode that let you upgrade parts for your pod racer, buying scrap from sleazy merchant Watto. With winding canyon courses that require you to do the floating-on-one-side-to-fit-through-a-chasm trick, it had a few heart-in-mouth moments, too.
