O rings factory right now in 2024: Mechanical seals often need to be used in chemical applications. When confronted with some harsh chemicals, mechanical seals containing elastomers made of Viton, Kalrez or Chemrez can’t hold up. Because PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene)or as most people know it Teflon ® , has a 0-14 ph range it usually will hold up. Like most materials every choice has an up and a down side. Because PTFE will handle most chemical applications, chemical attack is no longer an issue. One the down side PTFE wedges can cause fretting of your sleeve or shaft if you have not hard surfaced your shaft or sleeve (plasma coating). The stationary element of your seal will require a PTFE gasket. It’s not much good to have a PTFE on the rotary and then use an elastomer on the seat. We have seen it done, and because it is a static application some have gotten away with it, but it is not recommended. Most commonly the seat will be a L-shaped or Clamped mount style to allow space for a PTFE gasket to be used as the secondary sealing element. Discover extra info at https://www.dmsseals.com/.

The Fluid Film – In most mechanical seals the faces are kept lubricated by maintaining a thin film of fluid between the seal faces. This film can either come from the process fluid being pumped or from an external source. The need for a fluid film between the faces presents a design challenge – allowing sufficient lubricant to flow between the seal faces without the seal leaking an unacceptable amount of process fluid, or allowing contaminants in between the faces that could damage the seal itself. This is achieved by maintaining a precise gap between the faces that is large enough to allow in a small amounts of clean lubricating liquid but small enough to prevent contaminants from entering the gap between the seal faces. This micro-gap is maintained using springs and hydraulic force to push the seal faces together, while the pressure of the liquid between the faces (the fluid film) acts to push them apart.

The gasket made by DMS SEALS is uniquely mechanical and thermally stable and it has excellent oxidation resistance. Compared with other thermoplastics, it can be applied to components such as valves and bushings, with higher wear resistance, higher mechanical properties and thermal fatigue resistance. At the same time, it has excellent oil resistance (alkane oil), heat resistance, water resistance, aging resistance, air tightness and excellent adhesion. It is commonly used in media such as water, oil, and natural gas.

The rod seal is the most important sealing component designed by DMS SEALS in the liquid sealing application. It can effectively prevent the liquid inside the cylinder from leaking to the outside. Moreover, if there is a leakage problem in the rod seal, the performance of the equipment will be degraded. There are even some machine and human safety issues in extreme cases. This type of seal meets the standards of GB/T 15242.1-94 and GB/T 15242.3-94. It is ideal for high and low-speed reciprocating rods and rods in high-pressure system cylinders. Moreover, it can be used in a variety of fluids and high-temperature environments. It is characterized by its high corrosion resistance and its ability to work well in a corrosive media with no oil spots. It has high stability under pressure and harsh conditions. The outstanding advantages of our seals are strong wear resistance, resistance to extrusion, low friction and no stick-slip.

Leakage of gaskets: There are four types of leakage phenomenon in general gaskets: interface leakage, penetration leakage, diffusion leakage, and damage leakage. Interface leaks: The interface will leak at the sealing interface due to insufficient gasket compression, improper flange joint surface finish, and flange deformation. For interface leakage, it can be prevented by using soft gasket to clamp in the flange face. Penetration leakage: Since most of the soft materials are made of fibers, they are easily soaked by the medium, especially the pressure. Due to capillary phenomenon, the medium will permeate to the low pressure side, forming permeation.

Good sealing performance: Because the system works outdoors, there is no leakage oil recovery system, and the working medium will directly pollute the environment after leakage, so external leakage requirements are strict. At the same time, for the requirements of hydraulic oil heating control, pressure maintaining or maintaining position, the internal leakage requirements are also very strict. High pressure: The working pressure of the hydraulic system is high, usually above 20MPa, and the highest is about 40Mpa, which is higher than the general industrial hydraulic system pressure, so the sealing pressure resistance requirements are high.

Our structure is simple. Moreover, the seal is easy to manufacture and assemble. One of its remarkable features is its good adaptability to the oscillation and eccentricity of the shaft. The cavity in which it is mounted is compact in size for easy processing. It perfectly overcomes the gap issue caused by the oscillation and rotation of the sealing system when the shaft rotates, and the lip of the oil seal can always be in close contact with the surface of the shaft.
