Malaysia is a fabulous destination, so much history, a must see for any travel fan. Christ Church was built by the Dutch when they took possession of Malacca from the Portuguese and today, it stands as one of Malacca’s most defining structures. Situated along Jalan Gereja (also known as Church Street), it is an instantly recognisable brick-red building with a huge white cross at the top. The interior of the cathedral has 200 year-old handmade pews, decorative fanlights and plaques that honour Dutch soldiers and locals.
Officially called the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, this stunning example of 19th century Chinese architecture stands out for its distinctive blue walls and elaborate grandeur. One of Penang’s most beloved heritage sites, the mansion has been a key monument in strengthening the status of heritage building preservation all over the state, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Another high-terrain attraction that must be visited, Cameron Highlands is known for the Boh Tea Plantation. Feast on sweet strawberries and sip on hot milk tea as you swap the hot, stuffy atmosphere of Malaysia’s cities for the cool hill breezes, where beautiful flowers bloom.

Travelers can take a trip into the past with a ride on a 1900s steam train, the North Borneo Railway. The only train on Borneo, this old-fashioned train chugs about 83 miles from Tanjung Aru to Papar. Riding this train is a good way to see local villages with houses built on stilts and rice paddies being worked with water buffalo.
