Buenos Aires’ main opera house is considered one of the best opera theaters in the world because of its amazing acoustics. Built in 1908 to replace an earlier theater located in the same place, Teatro Colón was once a very popular destination for some of the biggest international opera companies and a favorite of Luciano Pavarotti. Rudolf Nureyev, Maria Callas, Plácido Domingo, and Julio Bocca have all performed here. As beautiful as the building itself is on the outside, the inside of the theater is even more stunning. It offers just under 2,500 seats and it’s completely decorated in reds and golds, with touches of both Italian and French architecture. Artist and production designer Raúl Soldi painted the theater’s stunning cupola. The theater is also famous for its outstanding costume and scenic departments.
It’s the most northerly point in South America, so perhaps it’s only fitting that La Guajira is unlike anywhere else on the continent. This remote and little-visited peninsula is a quiet oasis of sweeping sand dunes, bird-covered mangrove swamps, and vast stretches of empty land where the orange-brown La Guajira Desert meets the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Indigenous beliefs are the law of the land here, as the peninsula is home to the proud Wayuu people, who were never subjugated under Spanish rule and maintain a vibrant culture to this day. Keep in mind that tourism is still new in La Guajira, and the ride in from the regional capital of Riohacha requires both patience and a sense of adventure. The windsurfing Mecca of Cabo de la Vela has the most tourism infrastructure and will likely be your best entry point into the region.
When beach towns and resorts all start to seem the same and you’re looking for unique things to do in Cuba, Santa Clara will add some depth to your Cuban itinerary. This is the famous site of the last guerrilla battle led by Che Guevara in 1958. Che’s body was laid to rest here, and his mausoleum (Mausoleo del Che Guevara) and monument, the Memorial Comandante Ernesto “Che” Guevara, are the town’s big attractions. Etched on the bronze statue of Che Guevara in Plaza de la Revolucion is his final letter to Fidel Castro, while the mausoleum lies beneath. Adjacent to the monument, the Museo Historico de la Revolucion exhibits some of Che’s personal items. Che fans should also see the poignant Monumento a la Toma del Tren Blindado, a small boxcar museum and the site of the final battle between Che Guevara and the Batista troops.

But back to Buenos Aires. It’s a modern metropolis of over 15.5 million people. With all of the modern amenities. Every barrio in BA is different and there’s always something new to discover. It’s a digital nomads Graceland. You can work and explore. Balancing life and work in BA. It’s such an amazing city. And it was even more amazing than normal during FIFA. One thing that will stick with me for life was the sound when the final whistle blew and Argentina had emerged victorious. All at once every single inhabitant of Buenos Aires shouted. The entire city erupted into a roar. The partying didn’t stop for weeks after Argentina secured the FIFA trophy. I’ve never seen the city so alive. And I probably never will again.A few weeks later it was back onto a plane. And back to Cuba from Uruguay. Find extra information on https://inlovelyblue.com/.
Argentina’s diverse geography is one of the country’s main attractions. It encompasses everything from harsh deserts to humid jungles, and long ocean beaches to the soaring Andes. Stretching from the subtropical north to the subantarctic regions of beautiful Patagonia in the south, Argentina’s cultural, artistic, and architectural heritage is just as diverse, drawing upon influences from around the world. With its wonderful barrios, including colorful arts neighborhoods such as La Boca, old-world Recoleta, and trendy districts like Palermo, Buenos Aires sometimes feels more like Europe than Latin America. This lively capital city is the best place to begin sightseeing (it’s also the best place to learn to tango, the most iconic of Argentinian dances). In addition to its many cultural attractions, the other big draws – and for some tourists, its greatest appeal – are the country’s natural wonders, including the breathtaking Iguazú Falls, the world’s largest group of waterfalls. Rimmed by glittering beaches, Guardalavaca, in the Holguin province, is quieter and more remote than Varadero.
